DJ Dancetime

On July 31, Adventureland amusement park will be having a dance party, at 5 p.m., when DJ Dancetime will be spinning the hottest dance tracks and giving out awesome prizes. 

Friday, Aug. 1

Over The Hill Gang Fundraiser

On Aug. 1, the Over the Hill Gang softball league will hold its annual fundraiser at Ellsworth Allen Park on Motor Ave. in Farmingdale. This year the event will benefit 9-year-old Sal Pugliese, Jr., a local boy suffering from Perthes Disease—a painful disorder that affects the hip. Join the OTHG at 7 p.m. for an evening of live music, raffles for great prizes, free refreshments and community spirit. Admission is free and open to the public. 

Saturday, Aug. 2

Mini Golf and Ices

On Aug. 2, join the Living Faith Christian Church in Farmingdale, from 7-11 p.m., for a night of mini golf and ices at Monster Golf in Deer Park. Admission is $9. Participants can meet at 410-C Commack Rd. in Deer Park. 

Sunday, Aug. 3

Classic Car Show

On Aug. 3, the Bethpage Federal Credit Union will be having its Classic Car Show and Vendor Fair, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., at 899 South Oyster Bay Rd. in Bethpage. Admission is free and will feature a live band, a Dj, and over 52 vendors. Proceeds will go to the Last Hope Animal Shelter. Monday, Aug. 4

Board of Trustees Meeting

The next meeting of the Farmingdale Board of Trustees will be held on Aug. 4, at 8 p.m., at village hall, 361 Main St. in Farmingdale. A public work session will precede the meeting at 7 p.m. 

 

Author Book Signing/Discussion

On Aug. 4, join retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Colonel Dan Hampton at the Cradle of Aviation museum in Garden City at 7 p.m., when he will discuss and sign copies of his new book Lords of the Sky. 

 

In his book, Hampton offers a comprehensive history of combat aviation, from the Red Baron and his triplane in World War I to today’s technologically expert flying warriors in supersonic jets. Admission is free and open to the public. Books will also be made available for purchase. 

Wednesday Aug. 6

Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods

On Aug. 6 and Aug. 7, go Super Saiyan with the Farmingdale Multiplex Cinema at 1001 Broad Hollow Road, at 7:30 p.m., for a special showing of the animated movie Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. Unrated, 1 hour 25 minutes. The film follows warrior Goku as he pairs up for a battle against the ancient and powerful God of Destruction, Beerus. Drum Corps : Big, Loud & Live 11

On Aug. 7, come to the Farmingdale Multiplex Cinema at 1001 Broad Hollow Road, at 7:30 p.m., for a special presentation of DCI 2014: Big, Loud & Live 11. Unrated, 5 hours and 15 minutes. Broadcast live from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind., the film features larger-than-life performances from the world’s most elite marching music ensembles. Movies on the Green: Tangled

On Aug. 7, come to the village green at 8 p.m. for a showing of the film Tangled. Rated PG, 100 minutes. This Disney interpretation of the classic fairytale follows the story of the magically long-haired Rapunzel, played by Mandy Moore, who has spend her entire life locked away in a tower.
