While the Middle East has been engulfed in fighting between Israelis and Palestinians on the Gaza strip, an inter-religious group came together in Roslyn recently to pray and fast for peace.

On Tuesday, July 15, Jewish, Muslim and Christian leaders from across Long Island traveled to Temple Sinai in Roslyn Heights to pray for peace, an end to fighting and bloodshed with the hope that reconciliation can soon be reached.
The purpose of the day, temple officials said, was one of “collective reflection for all who feel affected by the fighting between Israel and the Palestinians. We hope to come together to pray for peace, an end to fighting and a hope that reconciliation can soon be reached. The 17th of Tammuz mourns the day on which the walls protecting Jerusalem fell; Ramadan carries a message of cleansing ourselves and to return to the service of our highest values. We seek to build connections that lead to understanding and peace.”
