A Roosevelt man accused of fatally shooting a 21-year-old man outside of the victim’s Freeport home last week has been arrested and ordered held without bail.

Autrey “Pluto” Smith surrendered Thursday to police at the First Precinct station house, where he was charged with second-degree murder.

Judge Anthony Paradiso denied bail for the 21-year-old Roosevelt man during his initial court appearance Friday.

Homicide Squad detectives alleged that Smith shot Lyreek Crawley during a house party at the victim’s Colonial Avenue home in the early morning hours of Sunday, Dec. 28.

Officers responding to a Shot Spotter alert and 911 call reporting shots fired had found the victim in the rear yard with a gunshot wound in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Smith is due back in court Tuesday.
