Schools Hold Souper Bowl

Schools in the Hicksville School District recently hosted the first annual Souper Bowl event to raise canned soups for local food pantries.

At Lee Avenue Elementary, students were encouraged to donate the canned soups during their lunch periods. Students who brought in a can of soup were given a raffle ticket for an opportunity to win a gift basket. Proceeds of the event, which was sponsored by the school’s Site-Based Shared Decision-Making team, were donated to Island Harvest. Woodland Elementary’s Souper Bowl proceeds were donated to the Boys’ and Girls’ Club of Hicksville.
