Bay Shore Man Convicted of Manslaughter

A Bay Shore man was convicted Friday of stabbing a 40-year-old man to death during a party at the victim’s Central Islip home last year.

A Suffolk County jury found Wilfredo Flores guilty of second-degree manslaughter.

Prosecutors said the 29-year-old man took two knives from a kitchen drawer and began to threaten people at the  when he fatally stabbed Carlos Velasquez on March 9, 2014.

An autopsy found the blade pierced the victim’s heart, according to investigators.

Flores faces up to 15 years in prison when he is sentenced March 23 by Judge John Toomey Jr.
