Man Breaks Into Uncle Bacala’s

Third Squad detectives reported the arrest of a Garden City Park man for a burglary that occurred on Monday, Feb. 9 at 12:10 a.m. in Garden City Park.

According to detectives, Julio Cesar Alfaro, 21, pulled open the front storm door of Uncle Bacala’s Seafood and proceeded to force open the double French doors, damaging them and entered the restaurant. Alfaro, a short time later, exited through the same doors, ran out onto Jericho Turnpike and was accidentally struck by a passing motorist, police said.

Police revealed that for fear of being caught, Alfaro got up and continued running from the scene. The driver of the vehicle flagged down nearby officers and advised of them of the accident.

Officers located Alfaro, unaware at that time he was responsible for breaking into the restaurant and transported him to an area hospital for treatment of a head injury, police said.

A subsequent investigation into the break in and the car accident led detectives to arresting Alfaro at the hospital and after being released, medically he was placed into police custody.

Alfaro was charged with third-degree burglary and second-degree criminal mischief.
