Flight Plans Uninterrupted

Last week, the world’s attention was riveted by the airplane disaster in the French Alps, one that killed 150 people and one caused, according to published reports, by a young airline pilot suffering from depression.

Although the news was shocking enough, it has not affected travel plans by local residents, at least according to Roslyn area travel agencies.

Such agencies also reported that the spring break travel schedules, which brings an uptick in airplane travel, have not been affected, either.

A spokesman at Greenvale Cruise & Travel reported no cancellations, with a normal schedule of travel still being conducted.

Likewise, Contemporary Tours in Roslyn Heights said that there were no cancellations in their reservations. Contemporary specializes in group student tour operations.

Any flight suspensions, a spokeswoman said, would be made not by passengers, but by the institution making the reservations.

Musiker Travel & Cruise Center, located on Old Northern Boulevard in downtown Roslyn, gave the same report as the other agencies.

“We’ve had some calls with questions,” said a spokesman. “They came out of a normal fear, like when there is terrorism, but there have been no cancellations.”

Finally, Premier Travel Inc., also in Roslyn Heights, reported no changes in flight schedules. Premier arranges primarily corporations and business trips.
