Movie At The Library
See Imitation Game at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Public Library, 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. During the winter of 1952, British authorities entered the home of mathematician, cryptanalyst and war hero Alan Turing to investigate a reported burglary. They instead ended up arresting Turing himself on charges of “gross indecency,” an accusation that would lead to his devastating conviction for the criminal offense of homosexuality. Make Your Own Paint
For children ages 3 to 5, with an adult, at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Public Library, 11 to 11:45 a.m. Love to paint? Make your very own paint from materials found around every home. Science and art combine to create masterpieces to take home with you. Registration began on March 20 for OB-EN residents and begins on April 9 for non-residents, space permitting.
Embossed Metal Encaustics
For children ages 6 and up, at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Public Library, noon to 12:45 p.m. Create a 3D drawing on metal foil and paint it using melted wax. Spring Exhibition Reception
The Oyster Bay Historical Society opens its spring exhibition with an afternoon reception on Sunday, April 12, from 2 to 5 p.m. in the society’s Angela Koenig Center at 20 Summit St. in Oyster Bay. The exhibition will remain on view through June 7. Ancient Art Form: Contemporary Adaptations in Glass features glass art by members of the Long Island Craft Guild’s Glass Media Group. Both functional and decorative works explore exhibiting artists’ personal themes and reflect their motivation for creativity in an ancient and traditional medium. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of exhibited art supports the programs and exhibitions of the Society’s Angela Koenig Research and Collection Center.
