The Seventh Squad reported an arrest for falsely reporting an incident on Tuesday, April 7 at 9:15 p.m. in East Meadow.
According to detectives, on Monday, April 6 at 7:41 p.m., Andrew Denton, 17, of East Meadow called 911 and falsely reported there was a man with a rifle walking down the trails of Brady Park in Massapequa. Several Seventh Precinct units along with the Bureau of Special Operations and Air Bureau were dispatched to the area for a search. The search lasted approximately 45 minutes. After an investigation, Denton was identified and located at his home on Tuesday, April 7, at 9:15 p.m. and subsequently placed under arrest. At the time of his arrest Denton was in possession of a gravity knife.
Denton is charged with falsely reporting an incident third degree and criminal possession of a weapon fourth degree and will be arraigned on Wednesday, April 8 at First District Court in Hempstead.
