What better way to get into the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Stanley Cup playoff spirit than with The Wait Is Over: The New York Rangers and the 1994 Stanley Cup by Floral Park’s own, John Kreiser.
It’s been more than 20 years since the Rangers’ inspiring and energizing 1994 win, after more than 50 years of chasing hockey’s ultimate measure of the sport, retold by Kreiser in The Wait Is Over.
Kreiser, long-time hockey writer, shares that historic season for the “Blueshirts” with facts, stats, interviews and several photos. Fans will remember the Vancouver Canucks defeat and the seven-game battle to earn the title of the Stanley Cup.
The current NHL season is just about over, with the final regular games ending on Saturday, April 11. The start of the playoff series leading up to the Stanley Cup will begin just days later (April 15) and one team will be named hockey’s champ.
Rangers fans saw their team to the Stanley Cup Playoffs last year, but at a loss against the Los Angeles Kings. The Rangers have clinched this year’s playoff berth in the Eastern Conference and are one their way again, but anything can happen.
The New York Rangers play two more games before the 2015 season’s end: on Thursday, April 9, at 7 p.m. at home against the Ottawa Senators, and on Saturday, April 11, at 12:30 p.m., away against Washington Capitals.
