Lynn Cobden Cross, 79, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2015 in Fort Worth, Texas after a fierce battle with cancer. Lynn was born in Philadelphia, PA, the younger daughter of Marion S. and Deborah Bonneville. After graduating college, Lynn moved to New York City where she met and married Bruce Cobden. Together, they had two daughters, Sandy and Carolyn, and lived for many years in Manhasset, where they raised both daughters. Lynn went on to get a master’s degree in criminal justice and worked for many years on social action issues as part of the Commission for Racial Justice for the United Church of Christ and later as a Criminal Justice Policy Analyst for Community Service Society in New York. Lynn married Thomas Cross in 1986, and they later settled in Fort Worth, TX. Lynn continued her work on social action issues in Texas with the Fellowship Church and then as Outreach Coordinator for the University Christian Church. Her work brought her much joy; however, Lynn most enjoyed traveling around the world with her husband, Thomas, and visiting with her daughters and their families.
Lynn was a passionate and strong force in this world and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Cross; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy Cobden and Ira Freehof and Carolyn Cobden Knight and Graham Knight; two stepchildren, Thomas Cross Jr. and Jane Cross; three grandchildren, Brinley, Cara, and Henry; and three step-grandchildren, Zach, Ashley and Jackson.
A memorial service is being held in Fort Worth, TX, on May 30. Donations may be made in Lynn’s memory to support outreach programs at the University Christian Church, 2720 South University Dr., Fort Worth, TX 76109.
