Independence Day Parade
Quentin Roosevelt Post No.4 of the American Legion will hold its annual Independence Day Parade, coordinated by Post Commander Reginald Butt. Assembly time is 10 a.m. and the parade begins at 10:30 a.m. The assembly area is Church Street at the Oyster Bay Community Center, and the parade will march from Church down East Main Street onto Audrey Avenue to the Derby-Hall Bandstand. Parade participants include American Legion Posts, VFW Posts, Korean War Veterans Association, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Friends of Raynham Hall, Atlantic Steamer Fire Co., Oyster Bay Fire Co. No. 1 and members of the park service from Sagamore Hill. Music at the bandstand will be provided by the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Community Band.
Ice Cream Social
The Oyster Bay Historical Society invites residents and visitors to stop by after the Oyster Bay Fourth of July Parade for an old-fashioned Ice Cream Social. The society will be serving complementary lemonade, iced tea and ice cream to all who come to the Earle-Wightman House garden. Beginning after the parade, the shady lawn will be the site of games and friendly conversation. Cookies and fresh herb sachets will be for sale to support the Beverly Mohlenhoff Fund for Collection Management and Development. Free to all. Dancing In The Streets
The Friday night dancing series begins this week at the bandstand on Audrey Avenue. Louis del Prete will take the lead on the opening night; not only is del Prete an excellent ballroom dancer and teacher, but he is also a talented musician and singer. He teaches group and private lessons and runs many dance venues. For Oyster Bay, he will play all types of music from the 1940s right up to what’s currently popular. Included will be line dancing, Latin music, ballroom and any other style desired. The dancing takes place from 7 to 9 p.m. Bring a chair if desired. Midsummer Nights Dream Cruise

Movie At The Library
See McFarland, USA at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Public Library, 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Inspired by the 1987 true story, the movie follows novice runners from McFarland, an economically challenged town in California’s farm-rich Central Valley, as they give their all to build a cross-country team under the direction of Coach Jim White, a newcomer to their predominantly Latino high school.
