This year the Manhasset-Lakeville Volunteer Fire Department is honoring two of their members for reaching milestone anniversaries for their years of dedicated service to the community. Former Chief of Department Joseph Morris of Manhasset is celebrating his sixtieth year of active service with the M-LFD Company 1 in Manhasset. Joe is one of only a hand full of members who have achieved the rank of Chief of Department as well as Department President.
Joe is the first of three generations in the M-LFD. Joe’s son Brian is a current Commissioner as well as a former Chief of Department. Joe’s grandson Brian Jr is a member of the M-LFD as well as an active duty member of the United States Navy.
Former Captain Preston Hicks Sr. is celebrating his fiftieth year of active service to M-LFD. Preston is a former captain of M-LFD Company 3 in Great Neck. His brother, Neil, is also a fifty year member of M-LFD Company 3, and his son, Preston Jr., is an active firefighter with the Westbury Fire Department.
