Sanitation Worker Fatally Hit by Garbage Truck

A 44-year-old sanitation worker from Brentwood was struck and killed by a garbage truck he was riding on in Melville on Monday morning, Suffolk County police said.

Jose Molina, who had been riding on the rear of the truck, was hit when the truck was backing up on Weinmann Boulevard at 6 a.m., police said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was not injured.

Motor Carrier Safety Section officers conducted a safety inspection on the vehicle. The truck was released to the owner, Jody Enterprise Inc. Second Squad detectives are continuing the investigating.
