Movie At The Library

Fall Harvest Festival

Mill Neck Family’s Fall Harvest Festival takes place Saturday and Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Located on the grounds of a historic Gold Coast estate near Oyster Bay, the festival, also known as “Apple Sale,” includes grilled fare, specialty cheeses, assorted baked goods, honey, fudge and strudels. Roasted corn, a perennial favorite, will be available along with other seasonal produce and jewel-toned mums. The “Country Store” will stock a full line of meats and of course, there will be plenty of New York State apples. The festival hosts numerous activities and games for children, like balloon art and exploring the pumpkin patch. Jewelry, decorative wood, holiday crafts and clothing are among the items available from a variety of vendors, many of them returning to the festival each year. Walking Tour of Oyster Bay

Join Oyster Bay Historical Society Director Phil Blocklyn on a foot tour of Oyster Bay, the final tour of the season, featuring the historic sites along East and West Main streets, Audrey Avenue and South Street in the heart of the hamlet. No two tours exactly the same. Interaction among members of the tour always welcome. Leisurely weekend pace. $15 per person, $5 ages 12-17, with advance registration required.

Hiking Long Island

Lee McAllister will be at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Library for a slide-show and lecture presentation about hiking around Long Island, at 7 p.m. The multimedia presentation will include the geology, history (natural and human), flora, fauna and topographical features that make Long Island such an interesting place to hike at any season. Hiking opportunities in Nassau and Suffolk County are encompassed in this discussion. Register at the reference desk or by calling 516-922-1212.

Hooks & Needles

Every Tuesday night from 7 to 8:30 p.m., head to the Bayville Free Library to sit, knit and chit-chat with the ladies who knit. Knit or crochet your own item or one to be donated. New members always welcome.

Learn how to ink a glass base, then place leaves on an acetate shade and paint the background. Fill the base with twinkle lights for a soft glow and a fun accessory for your room. Grenville Baker Clothing Sale

Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club’s annual clothing sale will be taking place through Oct. 8.

Food Pantry

The North Shore Assembly of God, 84 Orchard St., Oyster Bay is operating a new food pantry for the community. It is meant to supplement the growing needs of the community. It is open on Tuesdays 11 a.m. to noon. If you are in need of their services at other times, please call Pastor Diane at 516-922-2547 and make an appointment to complete their screening process.

The American Hot Rod

Collector Car Showcase (CCS), the only museum/showcase devoted to automotive memorabilia, Petroliana, and vintage cars in the metropolitan New York area, has an exhibit, The American Hot Rod, on display through Oct. 31 at the 18,000-square-foot facility at 85 Pine Hollow Rd. (Route 106) on the southern approach to this historic North Shore Long Island Gold Coast hamlet. The Petroliana museum, as car aficionados liken it, is open to the public daily from Tuesday through Saturday. It will feature a number of award-winning hot rods that have captivated audiences nationwide and are on loan to Collector Car Showcase for this special and rare exhibit. The Interfaith Community
