Vote For Kaplan

Please join us in supporting Steve Kaplan for police commissioner.

Steve has lived in Port for over 45 years and has been our neighbor for over 20 years. He is always the first one to assist anyone in our community. Steve has diligently tried to make our town safer and has been especially concerned about the children’s safety in our community even though his own children have long since moved away. We feel that Steve, based on his many years of devoted service to our town and with the energy and experience he possesses, would be uniquely qualified to continue to keep our community safe.

His knowledge and experience gives him a deep understanding of the workings needed to be a conscientious and proactive police commissioner.

Vote For Kaplan

I urge you to vote for Steve Kaplan for Port Washington Police Commissioner.

From his extensive business management experience to his attendance at Port Washington Police meetings for many years, from his experience as Port North’s Traffic and Safety Commissioner to his longtime community involvement (Gambol, Community Synagogue, etc.) Steve has shown that he has the experience, the leadership capability and the desire to become a meaningful addition to the Board of Police Commissioners. We need Steve to hold in check the almost 14 percent tax increase we have seen over the last three years.

Please join me in voting for Steve Kaplan for Port Washington Police District Commissioner on Dec. 8.

Why Elect Steve Kaplan?

Because we need a trustworthy, decisive and knowledgeable person to support our hardworking police department and our town. Steve looks at a situation and sees how it could be improved. He has discussed some creative ideas to add parking at the LIRR station and improve traffic flow at a number of congestion points around town. Steve has a wide knowledge when it comes to the physical facilities, which will prove indispensable for the present problems facing the Port Washington Police headquarters.

Steve has been an advocate of Traffic Safety and Security for our residents and especially our children. He has been the Traffic Safety Commissioner of the Village of Port North. As part of his committee responsibilities at The Community Synagogue and at Gambol he has worked closely with the Sands Point Police and Port Washington Fire Department for years to keep everyone safe and secure.

Steve saw the danger of people crossing Shore Road to reach Chabad. He worked with the mayor to install crosswalks with “walk” signals. This year, he arranged for a number of faulty street lights to be repaired and worked with PWPD to provide portable lighting at the crossings.

He was instrumental in having high efficiency LED lighting installed in The Community Synagogue, the PW Public Library and many other institutions. These upgrades paid for themselves within one year and saved many institutions thousands on their electrical bills. Steve saw the problem of inefficient energy use and fixed it.

There are many examples of Steve Kaplan recognizing a problem, figuring out the solution and getting it implemented. I have worked shoulder to shoulder with Steve at The Community Synagogue and Port Jewish Center on numerous improvement projects. He is hardworking, tireless, honest to a fault and holds the laws of our community in high regard. He has foresight and ability to get the job done. He will prove a valuable asset to the PWPD and our community. I have no doubt Steve will make an excellent police commissioner and has already earned your vote.
