Holiday/Winter Centerpiece
Come to the Plainedge Public Library and meet Frank Lazzaro and enjoy his seminar on decorating the White House with a photographic tour of the work he did. Learn a few “floral design tips” as he demonstrates how to create a lovely seasonal centerpiece that he will raffle off to a lucky member of the audience. From 6:30 to 8 p.m. Must register.

One of America’s finest champions of folk music, Caroline Doctorow, daughter of renowned author E.L. Doctorow, performs An American Holiday in Song, an uplifting acoustic music holiday program that includes standards such as “Winter Wonderland,” “Frosty the Snowman,” “Dreidel Song,” “Let it Snow,” “Deck the Halls” and so much more. Birds in Massapequa Preserve
Join the South Shore Audubon Society for a bird walk in the Massapequa Preserve from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Walk leaders and other birders and nature enthusiasts will be happy to share their knowledge and experience. The bird walk is free. Bring binoculars. Rain will cancel. The group will meet at the Northeast parking lot at the Massapequa Long Island Railroad Station. Volunteers
The Plainedge Public Library is looking for Plainedge School District volunteers in grades six and up for children’s crafts/activities during the 2015-16 school year. All applicants are accepted into a pool of eligible volunteers who will be called upon from time to time during the year. Application packets are now available from the children’s services staff.
