Library Holiday Food Drive
An Island Harvest receptacle will be located in the library until Tuesday, Dec. 15 to collect donated items. Suggested items should include, but are not limited to, canned vegetables, baby food, baby formula, soups, canned fruit, nutritional beverages such as Boost or Ensure, cereal, pasta, bottled juices, and personal care items such as toothpaste, deodorant. Please do not give expired food items.
Toys For Tots Drive
The Mineola Library is a dropoff location for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s “Toys for Tots” campaign, a program to collect toys and distribute to needy children in the community during the holiday season. You may drop off a new and unwrapped toy in a “Toys for Tots” box located in front of the circulation desk until Dec. 19.
WeCare Blankets
Please give to “WeCare Blankets.” The charity members’ goal is to knit blankets for children undergoing chemotherapy. Colorful blankets are supplied to 23 oncology units on Long Island. You may donate yarn at the box located in the children’s room.

Film Discussion Series
In a career that spanned over 50 years, director Alfred Hitchcock worked with the finest actors and actresses in Hollywood. Some of his greatest work came in films that featured Cary Grant as his leading man. This winter, we will feature all four of the Hitchcock/Grant films, followed by engaging discussion. All films begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10—Suspicion (1941), Monday, Jan. 11—Notorious (1946), Monday, Feb. 1—To Catch a Thief (1955) and Wednesday, Feb. 17—North by Northwest (1959).
A Charlie Brown Christmas Show
Saturday, Dec. 12 at 2 p.m. Join Plaza Theatrical Productions for this classic holiday favorite in the Ann C. Hurley Community Room.
Hearing Health
Friday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. Meredith Moore, Au.D., Ear Works Audiology will discuss the signs of hearing loss, types of hearing loss and possible solutions. Each attendee will be provided with a card for a free screening that can be performed in any of their locations.

How To Do Common Core Homework
Thursday, Dec. 10 from 4 to 5 p.m. For parents and students in Gr. K-12—open registration. Parents and students will examine the standards and gain an in-depth understanding of how skills build from Kindergarten to grade 12. Transitional C2 Education strategies will be discussed.
Milk And Cookies For Santa
Wednesday, Dec. 16 at 7:15 p.m. Ages 2-K (with caregiver) may sign up for both sessions. Listen to Christmas stories and make a special placemat for Santa’s Christmas Eve treat.
Pokémon Gaming Club
Tuesday, Jan. 5, and Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 4 p.m. Ages 7 and up-open registration. Meet other Pokémon fans, trade cards, battle Pokémon with them on your Nintendo DS or on the library’s Nintendo Wii. Free raffle prizes will be given away.
