LIU Post Media Arts Department will host an award ceremony and interactive media experience on Friday, April 8, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for all schools that enter the Best of High School Journalism Awards.
The event will allow students to meet LIU Post’s top journalism students and media professors while exploring the university’s media facilities, including WCWP, the campus radio station; PTV, the campus television station; the newsroom of LIU Post’s award-winning student newspaper The Pioneer and the Digital Game Design Labs.
Students will also participate in a luncheon and awards ceremony at the Tilles Center. The keynote speaker will be Angela Susan Anton, the owner and publisher of Anton Media Group, the largest publisher of weekly newspapers on Long Island.
High school sophomores, juniors and seniors who participate in high school journalism, including school newspapers, radio and television stations, may are eligible for the awards. The entries must be original student work that has been published between Jan. 1 through Dec. 30, 2015. The award categories include Best High School Newspaper, Best Online Student Publication, Best Feature Story, Best News Story, Best Sports Story and Best Commentary/Editorial. Students must mail in their entries in by Jan. 8. Winners will receive plaques and be featured on the LIU Post Media Arts’ Facebook page.
