The Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 5253 in Albertson recently hosted a holiday bazaar at the post. Local residents shopped and sold an array of items.
The funds raised at the bazaar will be used for the group’s continuing monthly visits to the Veterans Administration Hospital in Northport, where the money buys phone cards, canteen books (gift cards for the patients to use in the gift shop), shampoo, toothbrushes and other personal items for patients.
The auxiliary also is exploring adopting a platoon of soldiers overseas, and adding it to its long list of activities helping veterans, active military and their families.
