CYO Basketball Round Up

St. Mary’s seventh grade (Motroni) bested Our Lady of Hope, 21 to 18. Alex Papadakos led all scorers with 13 pts. Marco Motroni, Mike Nickita and Dan Cataldo also scored. Mike Desena and Seamus Purcell dominated the boards, and guards Finn Lytle, Phil Butcher and Kieran Ahern played great defense and had numerous steals to lock up the win.
St. Mary’s third grade (O’Connor) won Saturday playing away in Lynbrook at Our Lady of Peace, 32 to 8. It was a great team effort with Evan Fulgieri, Daniel O’Connor, Jarius Bo, Luca Marchignoli and Justin Yemm all scoring for St. Mary’s. Great ball handling and defense by Nicholas Sarlanis and Ethan Mei contributed to St. Mary’s winning their first game of the season.
