St. Peter’s 50th Annual Parish Party

StPeters120915OMore than 300 people gathered Friday evening at the North Hempstead Country Club for the Golden Gala, the 50th Annual St. Peter of Alcantara’s Parish Party.

The event is St. Peter’s largest fundraiser. It allows St. Peter’s to continue to serve its parishioners and community daily through parish ministries, including Baptism, Pre-Cana, Bereavement, Pastoral Council, Outreach, CYO and more. Cochaired by Patty and Christian Harper and Deborah and Colm Wrynn, 30 people served on various committees, many of whom have been doing it for years, working tirelessly to make the event a success. Local watercolorist Eileen Neville designed a special logo for the gala, featuring two couples ballroom dancing around a cross. “The event theme, the Golden Gala: A Celebration of Faith, Family & Friends, was chosen because gold signifies the strength we have in our community; the solid belief in our Lord and His great gifts, and the strong bond the parish has with each other,” said Pastor Pat Whitney.

Stpeters120915ACommunity support ranged from generous private and corporate cash sponsorship donations and print advertisers in the event’s commemorative journal, to donated items. Guests bid on a range of silent and Chinese auction options, from art and jewelry to concerts, performances and travel opportunities.

Attendees enjoyed a gourmet dinner in what is one of Long Island’s most beautiful rooms, replete with signature floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the exclusive club’s 18-hole golf course.
