New businesses in Port Washington were the focal point of the monthly Chamber of Commerce meeting in December.
Many of the new business owners in town were represented at the meeting, including Firm Technology Partners owner James Kittle, Moskvina Law founder Natasha Moskvina, Port Washington Taxi Inc. owner Stuart Madison and Sylvan Learning owners Lisa Yeung and Wing Ng.
Also discussed was the success of Port Holiday Magic, free holiday parking, the toy and food drives, the lamp post decorations and the strong participation in the window decorating contest.
The winners of the window decorating contest were: Alper’s Hardware, first place; White + One, second place; Painting With Flowers, third place. Honorable mention went to Yummy Gyro.
The date for Harborfest was announced: June 5. A chairperson for fundraising is needed.
The date for SOUPer Bowl is Feb. 6 and the new venue this year is the Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church.
The Chamber of Commerce meetings are held monthly at Ayhan’s f.i.s.h. on Main.
Approximately 50 members of the chamber attended this month, as well as several politicians, including North Hempstead Town Clerk Wayne Wink and Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos, who was the guest speaker.
Maragos spoke about county finances and answered several audience questions.
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 12, at 8 a.m. at Ayhan’s f.i.sh. on Main at 286 Main St.
