Amsterdam residents participated in donating funds to the 26th Annual “Thanksgiving Basket Brigade Food Drive” of the North Shore, which services families associated with the Boys and Girls Club of Glen Cove. There were 50 families slated to receive food but Amsterdam residents raised $420, which allowed the list to be expanded to an additional 16 families that received complete Thanksgiving meals including a frozen turkey, pie and all of the trimmings, including extra pantry items.
Community programs manager Tracy Warzer purchased the food items and baskets. All of the food baskets and turkeys were delivered directly to the families in need in time for Thanksgiving.
