Grant For Teen Chazak Program

Chazak_106116ATemple Sinai of Roslyn’s Teen Chazak program received a generous grant from the North Shore Autism Circle, which will enable them to expand and create new programming.

Open to students with developmental differences, Teen Chazak is designed to strengthen their connection to Judaism through meaningful experiences and provide a social outlet and the opportunity to grow as individuals. The program gives student educational and vocational training and helps prepare them to become independent and productive adults in a warm and welcoming Jewish environment.

The grant will fund a new series of Yoga classes. Yoga helps people with special needs to develop motor skills, improves self-confidence and social skills, provides sensory interaction and teaches coping techniques.

Music is a component of every Teen Chazak session, including Holiday songs and singing prayers. Other learning opportunities include teaching basic life skills such as cooking. The teens have successfully made sandwiches, baked challah and delicious lasagna.

This one-hour program runs twice a month on Wednesday evenings starting at 7 p.m. and is staffed with New York certified special educators, speech pathologists and social workers.

You can still enroll your child in this outstanding program. The cost is only $180 for the entire year.

For more information and to enroll your teen, please contact Ali Stamm, director of Youth Engagement at 516-621-6800. Temple Sinai of Roslyn is at 425 Roslyn Rd.
