A man was found dead after the garage he was living in caught fire in Shirley over the weekend.
Suffolk County police officers and firefighters responded to a 911 call reporting the blaze on Manor Drive and after the flames were extinguished, the body of a man who lived in an apartment in the garage was discovered there at 3:17 a.m. Sunday, authorities said.
His body was taken to the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s office, where an autopsy will be performed to determined his identity.
Investigators said the cause of the fire appears to be non-criminal. Homicide Squad and Arson Section detectives are continuing the investigation.
