Movie: Bridge of Spies
The Bar Harbour auditorium will show a 1:30 and 6:30 p.m. screening of the Academy Award nominated movie Bridge of Spies. A dramatic thriller set against the backdrop of a series of historic events, Bridge of Spies tells the story of James Donovan, a Brooklyn lawyer who finds himself thrust into the center of the Cold War when the CIA sends him on the near-impossible task to negotiate the release of a captured American U-2 pilot. Starring Tom Hanks, Mark Rylance and Alan Alda. (2015; PG-13 2 hrs 20 mins).

Writing Our Stories
The library’s writing group for senior citizens will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Bar Harbour children’s room. All are welcome.

Adopt-A-Battalion Soldier’s Drive
Come help put care packages together for troops overseas. Looking for personal care items, seasonings and hot sauces and items other than candy. From 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Island Knight of Columbus Council, 2 Eastgate Rd., Massapequa Park.

Beginners Canasta          
Learn canasta with Jacqui Palatnik. Pre-registration is required. From 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Bar Harbour children’s room.

Adult Retreat
The Antioch community invites you to a two-day retreat of stories, reflection, prayer, mass, delicious food, good company and lots of laughter from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. William the Abbot Roman Catholic School, 2001 Jackson Ave., Seaford. Summer Reading Program Volunteers Needed    MassCal_033016D
Applications for the Plainedge Library’s summer reading program are now available in the children’s department for  Plainedge School district students entering grades 6 and up. No previous volunteer experience necessary. Community service credit furnished upon request. In order to effectively schedule volunteers in time for the summer, all applications need to be submitted to a children’s librarian by Friday, May 13 the latest, no exceptions. Teen Takeover Mondays
Every Monday from 3:30 to 5 p.m., teens get to take over the auditorium. Enjoy open play with videogames on Wii U and XBOX 360, play Minecraft, check out the collection of board games and hang out with friends every Monday in the Bar Harbour auditorium. Painting
Welcome Spring with a  beautiful painting at the Plainedge Library from 7 to 8 p.m. The painting selected is a flower burst mixed media painting. Relax and enjoy as you combine mini mosaic stones, glitter and paint on canvas to create this colorful flower painting. Color choices are open for each patron to choose. Must register. A $2 non-refundable fee is due at registration.

The Massapequa Public Schools budget adoption meeting will take place in the high school’s Baldwin Auditorium, beginning at 8 p.m.

Movie: Brooklyn
The Bar Harbour auditorium library will show a 1:30 and 6:30 p.m. screening of the movie Brooklyn. The emotional tale of Eilis Lacey (Saoirse Ronan), a young Irish immigrant building a new life in 1950s Brooklyn. Lured by the promise of America, Eilis departs Ireland for the shores of New York City and is soon swept up by the intoxicating charms of new love. But when her new life is disrupted by her past, she must choose between two countries and the lives that exist within. Starring Saoirse Ronan, Emory Cohen and Domhnall Gleeson.
