On Sunday, April 10, Temple Sinai of Roslyn and Temple Beth Sholom of Roslyn, will join together for a rewarding, community-building experience at their annual Mitzvah Day. The day begins with a free pancake breakfast at Temple Sinai at 9 a.m., the price of admission being a non-perishable food item per attendee. In addition, there will be a Blood Drive from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. At 10 a.m., David Napell, a representative of Island Harvest, will speak about poverty and hunger on Long Island.
Mitzvah Day activities will include packaging Passover meals for Jewish families in need, making sandwiches for a local food pantry, bowling with children from the New York City Department of Homeless services, art projects for children of all ages, a pickup basketball tournament to raise tsedakah money and various collections, including food, clothing and toiletries for the INN, Island Harvest and UJA Federation, pet supplies, books, caps, prom dresses, gently used men’s suits, eyeglasses and sneakers. There will also be to electronics recycling.
