Berry Hill’s PRIDE Committee (Lisa Davis, Tiffany Girolamo and Fernanda Vudrag), Sandra Hoffman (Berry Hill’s Developmental Learning Specialist) and other PTA parent volunteers helped coordinate the Birthday Wishes activity with students during their recess periods.
Syosset’s Berry Hill Elementary School recently made a donation to Birthday Wishes, a charitable organization that provides birthday parties to children living in homeless shelters across Long Island. Organized by the Berry Hill PRIDE Committee, students put together 17 Birthday-in-a-Box (BIAB) containers, as well as 72 goodie bags. The BIAB containers are filled with party supplies including cake mix, frosting, bakeware, cups, plates, napkins, candles, decorations, party hats and juice boxes. The PRIDE Committee, which is responsible for the school’s character education program, is made up of PTA members and Berry Hill staff. The donation to Birthday Wishes of Long Island was part of Berry Hill PRIDE’s focus on empathy.
