As a part of the North Hempstead Community Clean-ups, volunteers with civic organizations from around Port Washington went out and completed spring clean-ups on Saturday, May 7. There were four groups in Port Washington—Beachway Estates Civic Association, the Lowell Road-Salem Civic Association, the Highfield Estates Civic Association and PWGreen.

The Town of North Hempstead Highway Department assisted the effort by picking up the garbage the volunteers collected. Councilwoman Dina De Giorgio attended several clean-ups on Saturday, including the PWGreen clean-up, the Guggenheim Nature Preserve located behind Guggenheim Elementary School, the Lowell Road-Salem Civic Association clean-up along Port Washington Boulevard and the Beachway Estates Civic Association clean-up at the Beachway Estate’s Beach.

Councilwoman De Giorgio said, “I thank all the volunteers in Port Washington who came out to clean-up sites around Port. I look forward to doing it again next year.”

Councilwoman De Giorgio also extended a special thanks to the town’s Highway Department, especially foreman Chuck Poole, for picking up the debris the volunteers collected.
