Avena, Others Sworn In As Manorhaven’s New Administration

AvenaSwear_071316AThe Village of Manorhaven’s new administration held its first meeting on July 6. During this organizational meeting, newly elected Mayor Jim Avena was sworn in, as were trustee reelect Priscilla von Roeschlaub and trustee Ken Kraft. Trustee Rita DiLucia will begin the second year of her current two-year term. Avena will appoint a trustee to serve the remaining year of his two-year trustee term.
Sharon Natalie Abramski, who has served as deputy village clerk for the past four years, was sworn in as village clerk-treasurer, records access officer, FOIL officer and records management officer. New hire Norma Joanna Gonedes will assume Abramski’s deputy village clerk position. Donald Badaszewski was sworn in as justice court clerk. Steven Leventhal, Esq., will serve as village attorney. Fred Pollack, Esq., will serve as village prosecutor. Bee, Ready, Fishbein, Hatter & Donovan will continue as special counsel to advise the village’s planning board. Leventhal, Mullaney & Blinkoff was appointed as special counsel to the village to advise both the board of zoning appeals and the architectural review board.
“We have formed an outstanding administration who are all looking forward to getting to work right away,” Arena said. “There are so many important initiatives we want to accomplish for the village and its citizens. We are also eager to hold regular public meetings to share our plans and gain input from our residents.”
Regular monthly board meetings will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m, unless they fall on or close to holidays, at which point they will be scheduled for earlier in the month.
