Many thanks to Garden City High School students, Claire Castellano, Rosie Lynch and Sarah McDonald for helping members of the Village of Stewart Manor Beautification Committee plant summer flowers in the village flower pots along Covert Avenue and Village Hall. It was a hot Saturday morning, but that didn’t stop these volunteers from making the avenue ready for Summer. As they worked, village residents and shoppers stopped to thank them and remark on the pretty flowers. Later on, as the day became hotter, Rosie and Jimmy Lynch went back to the avenue to water all the pots going from store to store to refill their watering cans. “This is what makes our village special—whether it’s residents participating in board meetings or volunteering their free time to help out in one of our village Committees—people get involved in the community,” said Beautification Committee Chair Karen Sa. “Thank you to the volunteers.”
