In addition to typical summer fun, a number of Levittown elementary and middle school students in grades 2-6 have been taking advantage of the district’s Summer Tutorial Program. This four-week program, now in its 16th year, offered reading and math review/remediation during two-hour weekday sessions. Under the direction of supervisors Kristy Quinlan and Janet Jakubowski, the students received instruction in a small group setting from five highly qualified teachers.

“We try to make the program fun,” said Quinlan. “Overall, the students showed great strides in developing their academic abilities and confidence.” An additional reading incentive program encouraged participating students to independently read books and select from a variety of writing activities. The student who read the most books was awarded a gift card at the end of the program.
