Selden Woman Dies in House Fire

An 85-year-old Selden woman died in a house fire on Monday morning, Suffolk County police said.

Sixth Precinct officers and Selden Fire Department firefighters responded to a report of a fire on Ferndale Avenue, where the lone resident, Eufemia Smith, was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:30 a.m., police said.

Homicide Squad and Arson Section detectives have preliminarily determined the cause of the fire to be non-criminal and are continuing the investigation.
