Book Discussion
At 1:30 p.m., the Parkville library will host a Long Island Reads event on Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult. The novel is a radiant exploration of the enduring love between mothers and daughters and the idea that those we can’t forget are never truly gone. Discussion will be led by Judy Snow. From 10:30 to 11 a.m., the Parkville Library will hold a little listeners event. The event will celebrate wonderful stories chosen just for preschoolers. The interactive 30-minute storytime is full of fun activities with group movement songs. Siblings are welcome. For 2 to 5 year olds with parent/caregiver. Classroom Volunteers Needed
If you have an hour or two each week to volunteer in one of our classrooms in the New Hyde Park-Garden City Park School District under the supervision of the teacher, contact Eileen Bileski at 516-434-2306 and be part of the district’s volunteer program. There is no prior experience necessary to participate in the program. Volunteers do a variety of activities with children such as reading to students or helping with classroom projects. The district is also looking for community volunteers, with a music background, to assist music teachers with students for one or two hours a week.
