Northport Man Fatally Hit by Car

A 70-year-old Northport man was fatally hit by a car in Long Beach on Halloween.

Nassau County police said Jan Kalas was crossing Austin Boulevard at the corner of Marina Path when he was struck by a southbound Honda Civic at 8:30 a.m. Monday.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was neither injured nor charged.

Homicide Squad detectives inspected the vehicle and are continuing the investigation.
