Baldwin Man Denied Bail After Murder Arrest

A judge ordered a suspect held without bail for allegedly killing a 25-year-old Syosset woman and dumping her body near his Baldwin home.

Nassau County police arrested Raphael D. Oyague, 36, on a charge of second-degree murder in the death of Deanna M. Wingender, whose body was found Wednesday behind a pizzeria on Merrick Road.

Homicide Squad detectives told reporters that the suspect killed the victim, a sex worker, with a hammer after he responded to her online advertisement.

Judge James Darcy remanded the suspect to Nassau jail on Thursday. He is due back in court Monday.
