Cops Seek Tips in Fatal Bay Shore Hit-and-run

Suffolk County police are asking for the public’s help in finding a hit-and-run driver that killed an 83-year-old woman in Bay Shore.

The victim was struck by a car that was heading eastbound on Main Street east of Brentwood Road at 4:40 p.m. Sunday, March 5, police said. The woman, who was hospitalized for a a severe head injury, died of her injuries on April 7, police said.

Major Case Unit detectives identified the vehicle as a 1999-2002 gray Nissan Maxima, similar to the one in the picture they released. The passenger side mirror of the Nissan was recovered at the scene and may have since been replaced, authorities said.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest in the case. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
