Syosset Crash Leaves Driver Dead

An 89-year-old man was killed when he crashed the SUV he was driving in his hometown of Syosset on Friday night.

Nassau County police said Edward Pottick was driving a Toyota RAV 4 southbound on Split Rock Road when he rear-ended a landscaping truck that was parked at the corner of Sagamore Drive shortly after 3 p.m.

The ramp of the truck was down, causing the vehicle to flip on its side and the driver to be partially ejected., police said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Second Squad detectives do not suspect any criminality.
