On Saturday 1/19/19, Port Washington Branch trains will operate hourly instead of every 30 minutes between 7:00 AM through 5:00 PM and buses and vans will substitute for trains at Port Washington, Manhasset and Plandome between 1:00 AM through 5:00 PM.
The Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) strives to be a good neighbor by keeping you informed of improvements that promote safety and reliability throughout our system. Cyclical track safety tests will be performed between Port Washington and Great Neck on Saturday, January 19, 12:54 AM through 4:55 PM.
The tests will be performed using the Sperry Rail Car, a specialized diagnostic car fitted with ultrasonic and induction test equipment designed to detect internal rail defects not readily visible to the eye. If defects are found, LIRR track maintenance personnel will correct them immediately while maintaining safe and reliable operations.
As a result of Saturday’s tests, Port Washington Branch trains will operate hourly instead of every 30 minutes between 7:00 AM through 5:00 PM and buses and vans will substitute for trains at Port Washington, Manhasset and Plandome between 1:00 AM through 5:00 PM.
