Homecoming being what it is, school spirit was at a fever pitch as the Hicksville Comets squared up on their home gridiron across from the visiting Port Washington Vikings. Unfortunately, the football gods were not smiling down on this particular Saturday as Port Washington succeeded in soundly defeating Hicksville by a final score of 36 to 6.

The Comets were shut down for the first three quarters of the game. It wasn’t until the last quarter when the home team managed to put six points on the board. While the visitors didn’t score in the last segment of the game, the Vikings made their mark by putting up 16 in the first, 13 in the second and finally a touchdown in the third quarter in this conference match-up. Hicksville’s record fell to 1-3, while Port Washington’s record went to 3-2.
