Adopt A Pet And Keep All Animals Safe From The Cold This Winter

Winter has unofficially arrived, and we always want to make sure animals stay safe and protected in cold and unpredictable weather. The Nassau County SPCA would like to remind everyone that pets left outside in extreme temperatures, especially without food or shelter, are at risk of hypothermia, frostbite, and even death. If you see an animal in danger, become informed, and make a report by calling 516-THE-SPCA. Their lives depend on us!

Victoria
Victoria

Victoria is a beautiful grey and white cat who is about a year old.  She is a little shy at the shelter but when she was home with one of our volunteers she showed her true colors.  She will follow you around the house and wait for her favorite salmon treats or sit and watch TV with you.  Please think about giving this young lady her forever home.  If interested, please text Alicia at 516-510-6738.

It doesn’t take a detective to figure out how Piglet got his name…just look at this cute snout!

Piglet
Piglet

Piglet found his way to the shelter when he was brought in as a stray, although, sadly, staff believes the person claiming to be the finder was in fact his owner.  But you know what they say – one man’s trash is another man’s treasure! Piglet is absolutely adorable.  He’s a tiny, 47-pound cutie with the most adorable eyes. Piglet likes other dogs and becomes playful with them. He knows a bunch of commands and also thinks he’s a lap dog. He does seem to have issues with strangers and is more comfortable with women than men, so a savvy, patient owner would be best for this little meatball. If you are interested in adopting this sweetie,  please contact the shelter’s placement team at (516)785-5220 or email Adoption@tohmail.org, Foster@tohmail.org or Rescue@tohmail.org.

Spencer
Spencer

Meet Spencer. This strong, handsome boy found himself on the euthanasia list due to nothing more than overcrowding.  He is 4-years old weighs about 70 pounds, but don’t let his size fool you, he is a really sweet and gentle guy.  He’s a big mush who loves his people. He is dog selective, so he should be the dog only in the home and due to his size, would do best in a home without young children. Spencer loves to play and also loves his downtime- he would make a great tv buddy or book reading pal.  He loves walks but is fine just playing in his own yard as well.

If you are interested in being Spencer’s forever home and best buddy, please contact adoptions@paws-li.org or call (631) 306-4616 today!

Cali
Cali

**Senior Alert** Cali is a 12-14-year-old Cattle Dog Mix in need of a forever home. Cali and her siblings Rocky and Suzie were brought to the Animal Shelter when their dad sadly passed away. Staff and volunteers would love for Cali to spend her golden years showered with endless affection. She needs an adult-only home, and she gets along well with calm dogs. Cali is losing her hearing due to chronic ear infections and has severe arthritis, so she needs a home that can help her navigate these challenges and provide her with the love and care she deserves. If you are interested in meeting Cali, please call 631-360-7575 today for more information.

Sprite
Sprite

When Sprite (Adoption #G25517)arrived from his overcrowded municipal shelter in the south, two things were evident: he was really gorgeous and really scared. A few months spent in the quietest space has relieved him from most of his fear, but he’s still every bit as handsome as the day we met him. Given time and space to acclimate to his new setting, 1-year-old Sprite has taken on some of the confidence of his feline friends and is eager to join in on the fun—sometimes too eager! The female friends of his playgroup find him overbearing, but he’s a welcome member of the boys’ club. NSALA is seeking experienced adults and children 16+ in age to help him overcome some of his reticence, and a confident male cat in the household will be a great ally as he navigates his first real home. You may fall in love with Sprite based on his dashing good looks, but it’s his delight in the little things he discovers as he explores his surroundings that makes him all the more endearing!

Flick
Flick

A good Samaritan rushed 8-month-old Flick (Adoption #H210935)to NSALA’s Pet Health Center for help with an injury to his mouth. Although fully repaired, the experience left our little friend a bit shaken. They placed Flick in a quiet place to fully recover and learn to enjoy human company. Now we can happily say this tenacious tiny tuxedo is literally climbing the walls with excitement over making so many great friends—both human and feline—while waiting to be ready for his family. NSALA is looking for a home with children 12+ and experienced adults who will give Flick all the gentle encouragement he needs to gain confidence in his first home. Flick enjoys his feline friends so much that we’re looking to find him a family with a confident cat to make his transition to a beloved family member as seamless as possible. With just a little patience, you could be looking at the piece that is missing from your heart!

Fran and Val
Fran and Val

**Double Adoption and Senior Alert** Fran (Adoption #H204283) and Val (Adoption #H204284) have lived their whole lives together. Now these devoted 9-year-old sisters are looking for a fresh start, and we think their chances are fantastic. While Val is content to let her more outgoing sister take center stage, Fran is ready to be the life of the party in any room she’s in. You’ll find the balance between them is part of their charm, and soon see that offering them a place to resume their content lives was just the thing missing in yours. Adopting a senior is the greatest experience you can give yourself; adopting a bonded pair is the easiest way to become a hero!

Nike
Nike

**Senior Alert** Nike (Adoption #H210972) never thought he’d be looking for a new nest to settle into at this point in his life, but he’s very grateful to his North Shore Animal League America friends for comforting him while we search together for a fresh start. What this stunning 18-year old lacks in kitten energy he makes up for in ample servings of gratitude, making him a wonderful choice for a big-hearted family seeking the senior experience. A quiet home and a comfy, warm lap is all he asks for in his golden years.  If your lap could use a little warming this season, please ask about offering yours to Nike.

Fiona
Fiona

When fabulous Fiona (Adoption #H204813) needed a safe place to start over, Animal League America was ready. From the moment she arrived, this stunning lady lost no time enchanting her new friends in Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center. With fur as soft as a bunny, bright green eyes searching for a soulmate, and a belly that tells us she’s enjoyed a kibble or two, 7-year- old Fiona is pulling out all the stops to grab hold of her fresh start. Just scratch her head and see how easily she melts into you. Fiona has a heart condition that is covered through our Pet Health Centers so loving her is as simple as receiving a head butt. With the NSALA team, and her delightful purrsonality, you’ll find her care simple and worth it. You may not realize this yet, but you’ve been missing Fiona your whole life; don’t let another moment pass without Fiona by your side!
