Town of Brookhaven 10th Annual Juneteenth Freedom Day Celebration

The Town of Brookhaven Supervisor Daniel J. Panico, Town Council and The Black History Commission hosted its annual 10th Juneteenth Freedom Day Celebration on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the Longwood Estate in Ridge New York. The day’s celebration began with some children’s games and the program started with a March featuring the Gordon Heights Fire Dept and Color Guards. Performances included musical performance by the Longwood Union Free School District Jazz Ensemble and Juneteenth performance by The Young Queens Project. The day’s program also included Juneteenth message by Dr. Jarvis Watson and Spoken word by Tracy Todd Hunter, Of Colors Creative Collective. Participation of Scout Troop 1371 along with information table by community partners: Town of Brookhaven NAACP. Fidelis Care, League of Women Voters, Gordon Heights Civic Association, Suffolk County Police DepartmentCommunity Relations Bureau – Recruitment Section.
