The Art Guild held the reception of its Nassau County High School Students Juried Art Competition on Saturday, Nov. 2.
85 artists and their works were accepted, and 300 people attended to reception to celebrate and view acceptances.
“It was a packed house,” said juror Stephanie Yovino-Folk. “The skill level and creativity is astounding. It took me hours of walking around over and over again while taking notes to pick the winners.”

Its next reception, which the organization predicts will be its largest one, will be Sunday, Dec. 6. Community members are invited to the 10×10 Silent Art Auction Party & Fundraiser – its largest fundraising this year. One hundred pieces of art will be donated and hung for this event, all which will be available for purchase. One hundred percent of proceeds go directly to The Art Guild. Cocktails and light bites will be provided. Admission is free.
Funds go toward providing classes to adults, children and teens at below market value, maintaining the gallery and exhibitions and free community events. As the area’s only community visual arts center, The Art Guild serves as a hub for artists, students and families.
