The Staples storefront at 1410 Northern Blvd in Manhasset will shutter its operations on Friday, March 20.

This is one of several Staples locations to close since the company announced in 2014 a plan to dramatically downsize its retail footprint, with 225 planned closures in North America.

In the past four months, at least 13 stores have closed, including two in Maryland, one in Maine, and three in Connecticut, according to reporting by the US Sun. And in 2022, the Staples in Hempstead closed.

Attempts to reach the Staples’s corporate headquarters have been unavailing.

With increasingly fierce competition from online marketplaces like Amazon brick-and-mortar retailers have been struggling. As Staples has shrunk its retail footprint, it has been pivoting to online operations and business-to-business sales in response to this structural change, which is still affecting the economy three decades after Amazon’s launch.

The Staples storefront, located in the Manhasset Center strip mall, is listed for lease by Breslin Realty. Attempts to reach Breslin Realty have been unavailing.

Posted on the storefront was a sign which read, “We’re Still Here For You,” and listed nearby stores on Jericho Turnpike in Garden City and Old Country Road in Westbury.
