Schneps Media LI is seeking interns to work in the editorial department of Nassau County’s premier news and lifestyle publications.
Schneps Media LI publishes 10 award-winning weekly newspapers that, along with its predecessors – Blank Slate Media and Anton Publications – have earned hundreds of honors from local, New York State organizations for their editorial excellence.
All stories appear first on the Long Island Press website.
The papers include the Great Neck News, Manhasset Press, Roslyn News Times, Port Washington News, New Hyde Park Herald Courier, Mineola Williston Times, Nassau Illustrated, Nassau Observer, Glen Cove-Oyster Bay Record Pilot, and Syosset Jericho Tribune.
Schneps Media LI is owned by Bayside-based Schneps Media, one of the largest local news chains in New York State with more than 100 newspapers and websites across LI, New York City and Westchester. Sister publications include Dan’s Papers, Queens Courier, Brooklyn Paper, Fire Island News, and many more.
Interns at Schneps Media LI will get hands-on newsroom experience working with seasoned professionals. They will research, report, and write news and feature stories for publication in the weekly newspapers and on the daily website.
Summer internships run from May to August, and fall internships are open September to December.
Applicants should be college students majoring in English, journalism, or communications. Experience writing for a school newspaper is encouraged but not required. Students must earn college credit for their participation in the internship program.
