The City of Glen Cove celebrated the 38th Annual Glen Cove St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday, March 22, bringing thousands of residents and visitors together for one of the community’s most cherished traditions.

This year’s parade marked a historic milestone as John Cronin, co-founder of John’s Crazy Socks, served as grand marshal — becoming the first person with Down syndrome in the United States to lead a St. Patrick’s Day parade. Joining him as aides were Eileen Flanagan Petrucci and Marianne Fleischer.

The parade stepped off at 1 p.m. following the lineup at Finley Middle School, with marching bands, community organizations, first responders, cultural groups, and local leaders making their way through downtown Glen Cove. The reviewing stand, located along the parade route, welcomed Mayor Pamela Panzenbeck, members of the City Council, and distinguished guests.

The celebration continued with an after-party at St. Patrick’s Parish Hall, where attendees enjoyed Irish music, food, and a festive community atmosphere.

The 2026 parade also supported ACDS, an organization dedicated to supporting children and adults with Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities, further reinforcing the parade’s commitment to making a meaningful impact beyond the celebration.

“The Glen Cove St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a proud tradition that brings our community together year after year,” said Mayor Pamela Panzenbeck. “This year we were especially honored to celebrate John Cronin’s incredible achievements and advocacy.”

“Our sponsors and donors are the heart of this parade. Because of their generosity, we’re able to continue this beloved tradition and give back to organizations that make a real difference in people’s lives. We truly couldn’t do this without them,” said parade president Lisa Forgione.

The Glen Cove St. Patrick’s Day Parade is organized by the Glen Cove St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee and is funded entirely through sponsorships and donations, with proceeds benefiting local charitable organizations.

The Parade Committee thanked all its sponsors, volunteers, public safety personnel, and participants who helped make this year’s event a success.
