Police in Santa Clara County have confirmed that a third victim in Wednesday’s Cupertino quarry shootings is dead. Seven workers at the quarry were injured and the gunman, Shareef Allman, is still on the run. Allman, 49, a disgruntled worker at the Lehigh Permanente quarry arrived for a morning safety meeting at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, got angry, left briefly, and returned armed with a handgun and rifle. That’s when he reportedly started shooting his coworkers. Two of them died at the scene. Schools in the area were put on lockdown and some of them closed as SWAT teams took to the streets in search of Allman, who works as a trucker at the quarry. Cupertino Shootings: Pictures from the Scene Police have also connected Allman to a second shooting in Cupertino hours later, about five miles away from the quarry. Investigators say Allman tried to carjack a Hewlett-Packard employee in a parking lot near Homestead Road and Tantau Avenue, and shot her in the leg before fleeing, without the car. Although officials have warned that Allman is armed and dangerous, possibly carrying an AK-47, investigators have recovered a shotgun, handgun and two assault weapons, according to the Los Angeles Times. However, officials still consider the man to be “armed and dangerous.” Allman’s abandoned car was recovered at a local gas station.
