Oyster Bay Farmers’ Market
Celebrate the splendors of summer with fresh fruits, vegetables, cheeses and other delicacies at the “first ever” farmers’ market in Oyster Bay. Each Friday, continuing into the fall, local growers, artists, bakers and soap makers will gather in this historic town to sell their goods at an idyllic outdoor market. The work of local artists will also be featured. Kick off your weekend with all of the fresh ingredients needed for your summer recipes while treating yourself to an inspired outdoor shopping experience. All of the market goods are grown or made locally. Other local products to be added soon include homemade breads, pumpkins and gourds.

Summer Birds Walk
Muttontown Preserve will host a nature walk from 9 to 11 a.m. The walk, “Summer Birds,” includes a two-hour walk through thickets, small meadows and wetlands as a guide describes the variety of birds in the preserve. Enrollment for the walk ($5) is limited and preregistration is required by calling 571-8500 weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The walk will begin at the Bill Paterson Nature Center on the preserve. Muttontown Preserve is located on Muttontown Lane, south of 25A, in East Norwich.

Dahlia Club Meeting and Class
At the 8 p.m. meeting Jeff Kracke, professional photographer, will show how to capture the best dahlia images from our gardens. The secrets of how you can get the largest blooms from your dahlias will be divulged at the 7p.m. Dahlia 101 class. Artwalks
The Oyster Bay hamlet will be “the place to be” on the first Thursday of the month between 7 and 9 p.m. The program offers artwalks in the local galleries that will be open and featuring exhibitions of artists from around the world. Other businesses in the downtown area will also be showing artwork. Restaurants will be offering 20 percent off on meals; wine-tastings; burger and beer specials; along with indoor and outdoor music and art. Cafés and restaurants will be open for dessert and coffee specials and will also have art displayed. Currently Jessica Semins is a regular Thursday evening performer at Fiddleheads. She plays the fiddle and offers Irish songs as well as original songs. The artwalks will begin at Chase Edwards Gallery, 15 E. Main St. (802-0655) followed by a visit to the Atelier Gallery Fine Arts. 9 E. Main St. (205-0907) and The Teaching Studios, 115 Audrey Ave. (971-597-2404) which will also be open offering a workshop evening and a tour of their facilities. Also Sept. 2, Oct. 7, Nov. 4 and Dec. 2.
Sundown Concert Series
The Oyster Bay Main Street Association presents the fourth live, outdoor, free concert in this summer’s Sundown Concert Series. It will be held from 7 to 9 p.m., to coincide with the monthly “First Thursday” Art Walk through downtown Oyster Bay. The location is Renaissance Plaza, in the courtyard at 24 Audrey Ave.. The dynamic acoustic duo known as “Acoustifunk” consists of Matt Sweeney and Greg Romano; both doing vocals and playing guitar. They will perform their unique take on classics by the Allman Brothers, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Bob Marley, Van Morrison, Marvin Gaye, Radiohead and others. Chairs are provided. Bella Voci Women’s Choir
Women and girls united in song for cancer prevention and cure. Jennifer Soctt Miceli, director and founder. 4 p.m. at Christ Church, 61 E. Main St. Advance sale tickets $15; $20 at the door; $10 seniors and students. Proceeds from the tickets sales are donated to the American Cancer Society.
