Hicksville Memorial Day Weekend Events

The public is cordially invited to attend the following Hicksville Memorial Day weekend events:

Saturday

On Saturday May 28, starting at 6 a.m., volunteers are needed to flag veteran’s graves at the Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale. Also on May 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the United States Marine Corps will have assault helicopters and an Opsrey with infantry demonstrations at Eisenhower Park.

Sunday

On Sunday, May 29 the United Veterans of Hicksville will host a Memorial Service at the Veterans Section of Plain Lawn Cemetery located on Old Country Road in Hicksville starting at 9 a.m. Veterans groups will march in and a wreath laying ceremony will follow. There is a new flagpole on the Veterans Section that was purchased through donations from veteran’s groups, community groups and individuals. The United Veterans of Hicksville are very grateful for the continuing donations to renovate the Veterans Section at Hicksville’s Plain Lawn Cemetery.

On May 29, the United Veterans Organization of Nassau County will host its annual Memorial Service at the Eisenhower Park Veterans Monuments starting at 11:30 p.m. The UVO guest speaker will be the Commanding Officer of the U.S.S. New York. Also on May 29 the Long Island National Cemetery Memorial Organization is holding a Memorial Service at 2 p.m. at the Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale.

Monday

The Hicksville Memorial Day Parade and Service will take place on Monday, May 30 starting at 9 a.m. The marchers leave Sears parking lot on Broadway-Route 107 and continue south through the heart of Hicksville and turn right on Old Country Road and then make a right on Jerusalem Avenue and finally ending by the Middle School. The annual Hicksville Memorial Day Ceremony will begin at the Middle School Veteran’s Memorial Park immediately after the parade.
